Take care of your health and well-being now; your future self is depending on YOU!

A holistic approach to self-care should be followed as mind, body and spirit are all connected. You will notice how the following examples crossover and support one another. Prevention is the best medicine and it is never too late to begin taking better care of our health and well-being.

PHYSICAL HEALTH

Diet: Eat fresh nutrient rich foods and maintain a healthy weight.

Exercise: Cardiovascular activity helps keep your heart healthy, your weight in control and your energy levels and mood elevated.

Regular health checks: Having a consistent record of your physical health helps to better identify and assess any adverse changes. Seeking medical assessment when you first notice any changes to your health reduces the time spent worrying about your symptoms. It is also wise to address things right away as most serious complaints have a better outcome when discovered and treated early.

Hygiene: Good hygiene practices reduce the risk of illness. Proper oral hygiene means healthy gums & teeth and pleasant-smelling breath.

Nature: Spending time outdoors, breathing in cleaner and fresher air, walking barefoot in the park, absorbing vitamin D from natural sunlight are all healing and grounding activities.

MENTAL & EMOTIONAL HEALTH

Sleep: A regular sleep routine helps your body to regenerate and heal. Your energy levels will be more stable through out the day and you will be much less likely to suffer from mental fog and fatigue.

Rest and recovery: Taking adequate time out from physical and mental demands helps to recharge your battery and reduce stress, anxiety and burnout.

Memory: Keep your mind healthy and vital by learning new things and participating in regular social activities.

Peace of Mind: Don’t try to do everything on your own, ask for help when needed. Seek support from a professional if things seem to difficult to manage alone.

Nurture yourself: A relaxing bath soothes the mind and body. Soft candlelight and flickering flames encourage stillness and promote relaxation. Essential oils added to the bath water create a sensual experience and rejuvenate and heal mind, body and soul.

SPIRITUAL HEALTH

Release mental clutter: Meditate and practice mindfulness when your mind needs clearing of endless and repetitive chatter.

Find a higher purpose: Volunteering & connecting with those less fortunate than ourselves brings clarity and perspective to the deeper meaning of life.

Live clean: Avoid alcohol and drugs, seek professional help and support for these and other addictions including gambling. There are numerous support groups helping one another to abstain from problematic behaviours and live healthier and more rewarding lives.

Travel: Exploring the world around us rekindles the flame of wonder and curiosity that we once took for granted as children. Time slows down outside of our regular routine and it is easier to connect and engage more fully with each moment.

Forgiveness: Letting go of anger, resentment, guilt and blame sets us free from the past and those that have caused us pain or distress. It is one of the greatest gifts you can give to yourself and those you love.

Gratitude: Being appreciative for all that we have in our lives keeps us humble and open to be of service for others. We attract what we focus on most and being grateful and thankful multiplies what we have to be grateful for.
